Thinking of my Grandmother

I found myself roaming around the grocery store Saturday when I stumbled upon these...
Brach filled assorted hard candies

I tend to reach for these every Christmas and it reminds me of my Grandma Pulsipher. She always had canisters of these candies especially during the Christmas holidays. I was always sneaking handfuls.
I popped one in my mouth and it brought back memories. A sadness that I wish I had personally got to know her more. Memories of what her house looked like, smelt like, and felt like. At times I wish I could bring back that time of innocence's and devotedly find out more about her, her likes and dislikes, stories from her childhood, what her parents were like, the list goes on.
I am sure there will come a time for past memories to be shared but for right now I get to seat here and eat my candy and think of her.

O' Christmas Tree O' Christmas Tree

We finally got our tree completed. It was up the weekend before finals with lights and all, but it wasn't until finals were over that the ornaments were up. This year we decided to make "Gryffin Proof" ornaments. It is funny how such little round ornaments look like balls in our little boys eyes. So instead we made some ornaments out of some wooden ABC blocks we had around.
I would love to say that we hung up our tree with great love and it was a splendid time. I wont go into detail how our night went, but just look at the picture. Cole has one thumb up and one thumb down, and no we didn't tell him to do that. Tate looks bewildered a little and Gryff well there are hardly words....
I refrained from pulling a "Brooke" and dictating where each ornament should be placed. Afterwards, I wanted to fix it but Eugene held me back and told me there was no point it would be played with and that the ornaments moved around continously so don't bother. True, I thought. So here it is the exact way our three boys decorated it...

Our little shadow

Last Sunday as soon as we were home from church and had eaten some lunch Eugene headed out side to shovel the mounds of snow we had in our walk way, on the side walk in front of our house, and in our drive way. Eugene decided to take Gryffin along with him, and he loved it.

Logan 9th Ward Christmas Party

Last Saturday was our ward Christmas party. It is always fun to get together with friends in the ward and watch a not quite put together program, yummy food, and delish desserts. Of course don't forget the visit from that special someone, Santa Claus.
Cole waiting in anticipation to tell Santa what he wanted this year for Christmas. I am sure the list was quite long with all of his NEW interests this year.

Gryffin didn't cry but was on the verge. He just looked a little bewildered at what was going on and who was holding him, with quite a few huff and puffs in his chest.

Tate was all smiles coupled with shyness. It took him a second to warm up to Santa but soon muttered the words, "I want a train for Christmas." After Santa gave him his little brown bag of treats Tate professed to me that his train was in there. I tried to explain to him that there wasn't a train in his bag that that was just treats that the ward gave Santa to give to the good little boys and girls. Tate wasn't convinced he said that he told Santa he wanted a train for Christmas and Santa said he would look into it. So by Santa giving Tate the brown bag he was sure that Santa had followed through. Tate quickly opened the brown bag only to find a few pieces of candy and an orange. Disappointment swept quickly across his innocent face and tears began to well up in his eyes. He was crushed! He looked at me dropped the brown bag and ran out of the cultural hall. I felt his pain as I followed after. Eugene tried to ease his pain and explain to him. Guess we better make sure Santa brings a train this Christmas.

Sorry the pictures are not great. I forgot my camera once again and we were left with taking pictures with our phone. Dang it!

Thriller

While my mom was here for Halloween she treated me to Thriller. We had a great time, Gwen went a long and it is always a party when Gwen is there. It was so fun to have three dance enthusiasts there watching thriller, although I must say my critic side came out in a flash. It was a great performance all in all and freaky I must say. I would love to see it every year the costumes and special effects were amazing not to mention the talent of the individuals participating.
Sorry some of the pictures are not the best they were taken by a camera phone (I forgot my camera yet again) and it was dark in most places we were in.

A spook from the past...

Here is a little spook from our past.
Halloween was great. My mom came and visited which was nice. Its always nice to see family and of course to have GRAMME around. The boys dressed up as the Star Wars/Clone Wars this year. Cole wanted to be Darth Vater, Tate was Rex off of Clone Wars (I believe) and Gryff was of course Yoda. We were able to enjoy a friends Halloween Party, our Ward Party Trunk or Treat, and do just a little bit of Trick or Treating as well.
My favorite part had to be carving pumpkins this year. The boys again would not do it. I got Cole to stick his hand inside the pumpkin and touch the goo only once and that was it. He was all about motivating me to do his pumpkin though and kept giving me a thumbs up and words of encouragement while being disgusted that my hands were covered in goo. Tate was even funnier I couldn't even get him to pull some goo out. As soon as his hands touched the goo he scream and ran off to wash them. He didn't stick around for words of encouragement just left me with explicit instructions that he wanted a ghost pumpkin. I decided to make a spider web this year in my pumpkin and Cole designed his entire pumpkin face and helped carve them out a bit.
